With summer season in the Hamptons out in full swing now, Montauk is not only “The End”, but it is quickly becoming a culinary destination all of its own. Inlet Seafood Restaurant is just one of many hot spots out on the east end, and for us, it’s one of the best that we have yet encountered.
Peter’s Clam Bar is such an institution on the south shore of Long Island (and very much taken for granted that it will always be there) that like the Statue of Liberty, we always pass it, but never visit. That changed last week when we stopped by for a Friday night dinner. We arrived to live music, calm water and affordable seafood. We left satisfied and vowing to return.
The Patio, which burst onto the scene last year and catered to those Long Islanders who love to eat and drink on the water, is reopening for the season this Thursday, April 12th. Located in the Freeport Inn and Marine, the restaurant and bar features an outdoor lounge area, a bar that opens its doors to the outside and a great food menu that will be sure to be even more popular this year as more people learn about it.
The east end is recovering from the crazy summer activity that revs up the weekend and nightlife activity. Now that it’s winter and the crowds are gone, the year-round residents can sit back and relax a bit, head out onto the open road and enjoy some of those finer restaurants that stay open throughout the slow season.
