Mim’s in Syosset has been somewhat of an institution for the local area on Berry Hill Road. Although some of the restaurants that are located within earshot of Mim’s have turned over at least 5-6 times in almost as many years, Mim’s has proven to be a local favorite that is still catering to the same clientele that it did when it opened many years ago.
If one of the more unique restaurants on Long Island is hidden behind an ordinary strip center facade, we wonder how many people actually do know about it. We hadn’t heard much about it until we visited, but now that we’re aware of it, Mara’s Homemade is going to be a part of our never-ending rotation of great restaurants on the island.
Moules et Frites has suffered the fate of the number of restaurants that sat before it in that same corner location in Syosset. As of a few months ago, they shuttered their doors and were in the process of changing over to Restaurant 516.
