Quick In & Out: Noah’s in Greenport

When we first met Chef Noah Schwartz he was at the helm of Seafood Barge in Southold way back in 2007(ish). Not too long after our first meeting at that location, they closed up shop and Noah decided to head out on his own. A few miles away in Greenport, the old Frisky Oyster bar location was opening up, so due to the collision of events, Noah decided to open up Noah’s in the heart of Greenport, on Front Street.

PLANCHA Tapas and Wine Bar in Garden City

When we saw that PLANCHA, a new Tapas and Wine Bar was opening up in Garden City, our intuition told us that Josh, Jonathan and Lily, the trio behind one of our favorite spots on the South Shore, Salumi, in Massapequa, were behind this new spot. Our suspicions were confirmed and with that knowledge in our hands, we knew that diners were in for something special on the North Shore.

We had a preconceived notion that The Good Life would be a great meal. When we visited their sister location, The Phoenix in Seaford, it was one of the better meals that we had had on Long Island and were quite excited. The Good Life held our expectations and made for a wonderful evening out.

Down on the western edge of Long Beach lies Bahia Social Club, a small plates restaurant that transforms itself from a bar and restaurant with outdoor seating to a small concert venue at 10pm on weekend nights. We were there recently to dine on their tapas menu and then we transitioned inside for a concert. Of course, we brought our camera along to capture the food and the scene.

Sometimes driving around will take you to a new restaurant on a whim. Driving on Merrick Road in Seaford the other night aimlessly for somewhere to dine, our eye caught The Phoenix, a newly opened restaurant of less than 6 weeks. Before hitting the next light, we did some research online and found that the overall reviews were positive thus far, so we decided to stake it out and head in.

On Stewart Avenue, located south of Main Street in Huntington, just off the beaten path, lies Bin 56, a small plates / tapas bar and restaurant that caters as much to wine as it does to small plates.

Long Island cuisine is as good as it has ever been right at this moment and it’s made up of unique restaurants, interesting people and great dishes. All three have come together in this Massapequa wine and small plates haven; Salumi.

In our first foray into video on East of NYC, we wanted to choose a restaurant with character and with a unique take on the food that they offer. We were lucky to have found both at Swallow in Huntington.

**Update: This location is closed**

Trattachino recently opened up in Wantagh in late January, and to our pleasant surprise was rocking the night away this past Saturday night. We happened to show up early and it was relatively empty during those first few minutes of dinner service. Leaving the restaurant was a different story; it was packed and everyone seemed to be having an excellent time with the wine and the food flowing. We sat down and immediately started ordering a bevy of items on this small plates / sharing New American menu. To view some of our guilty pleasures, keep on reading past the break.
