You may not know Jack’s Shack in Glen Head but you probably know its owner. Willie Degel, host of the wildly popular Food Network show Restaurant Stakeout and who is also the owner of Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse is calling the shots at this organic fast casual spot and not surprisingly, it’s pretty good.
We’re huge fans of Mediterranean cuisine and we’re also big on the concept of fast-casual, a genre that favorites such as Chiptole excel at all over the island. For years we have passed by Wild Fig on Northern Boulevard without going inside. If we had known that this location was a mash-up of all of those things that we love, we would have visited years sooner.
When one gets invited to North Fork Table and Inn in Southold, on Long Island’s North Fork, one drops everything and makes a beeline for the restaurant (and brings a camera with them to catalogue the trip). Such was the case on a recent chilly Sunday afternoon. True to fashion, North Fork Table and Inn lived up to the hype and showed us why they have been one of the top restaurants on Long Island (28 out of 30 for food in ZAGAT) on a consistent basis.
PRIME American Kitchen and Bar in Huntington is one of those restaurants on Long Island that not only has that “wow” factor, but it also lives up to the hype with their wonderful cuisine served with a side of an even better view.
Red Fish Grille may not be as known as it should be, perhaps because it is attached to a strip of stores and is not a stand alone restaurant, but that doesn’t mean that they’re not serving top-notch seafood and other dishes to the Plainview crowd.
Cafe Joelle, located on Main Street in beautiful Sayville, has been a shining star in the area since the 1990’s when it opened. It continues to draw locals who are looking for a quaint atmosphere and a quality meal at an affordable price.
Through our travels through Long Island’s culinary scene over the last 30+ years that we have lived here, one restaurant has always been there to satisfy the cravings of those looking for authentic Mediterranean cuisine; Mediterranean Snack Bar.
Seasons 52 in Garden City is a great addition to the Long Island dining scene. A “chain” restaurant owned by Darden Restaurants, there’s nothing chain about it. It’s a high-end restaurant that focuses on healthy dishes, superior ambience and carefully selected wine options.
