A 1940’s railcar on Long Island is something quote unusual. Even more unusual is a 1940’s railcar serving up authentic barbecue that is delighting everyone who visits and creating a cult following for itself. Such is the case at Biscuits & Barbecue.
Owner Joseph DeNicola has hit the mark again (his other Long Island restaurants, Ruvo East, Ruvo West and La Tavola have been pleasing Suffolk crowds for years) with his new location, Del Fuego, in St. James. This tiny area is packed with great restaurants, and this hopping Tex-Mex joint adds just one more to the growing list of reasons that we love St. James.
Update #2: RUB BBQ is no longer and is now called Kansas City Smokehouse
Update: RUB BBQ is open for business as of 8/15/11 for dinner service (Monday)
We were big fans when we dined at RUB BBQ in the Chelsea section of Manhattan last summer and chatted up their owner, Andrew Fischel, a Long Island native (Roslyn, to be exact). We were mostly talking about the Long Island BBQ scene and going over the various major players in both Nassau and Suffolk. Well, we’ve learned that they’re now heading out east to a new location that they can call home.
