Lil’ Left Coast, the little brother to Merrick’s popular Left Coast Kitchen has announced that they are shuttering their doors on the concept. Acknowledging that the Lil’ Left Coast concept was “not concise enough” and that it was an overly ambitious menu, it never completely caught on and ultimately cost too much to run.
Sad Food News coming out of Merrick today. Kevin Liebov, the owner/chef of Nicholas James Bistro in Merrick has announced that they have shuttered their doors, after 19 years in service, mostly due to economic reasons and the increasing rents that are turning up on Merrick Road.
Although Grillfire in Merrick may be known most for their excellent hamburgers (their own special blend, mixed for them by Main Street Meats), they also have a great Sunday brunch experience. Over the years we have frequented this popular spot, conveniently located on Sunrise Highway, to wind down the weekend and usher in the day of rest.
Nicholas James Bistro has been serving the Merrick community since 1996 when chef Keith Lubov, along with his father, Charles, purchased the restaurant. With specials that change daily, the restaurant doubles as both your standard restaurant and a catering operation, serving corporate clients and events in the local area.
San Marzano, the intensely popular brick oven pizza joint on Merrick Avenue in Merrick will be temporarily closing its doors on August 12th to make way for a new and improved spot.
Almost a week never goes by when we’re not stopping by our favorite hometown deli. Smith Street Deli is the neighborhood go-to spot for all phases of the day; they’ve got breakfast, lunch and dinner covered. So, if you’re ever in the Merrick area, this is one casual spot that you can’t afford to miss.
Being that it’s the summertime, we’ve covered a lot of dessert spots, and more specifically, frozen yogurt spots. Swirlz World is new to the area, having just opened their doors within the past six weeks. This is a self-serve yogurt hotspot and one thing that they have that most others don’t is a huge selection of pick-your-own candy.
We’ve met Roe’s Casa Dolce’s original location in Rockville Centre when they were recently featured on our favorite TV show on FiOS1 LI, “Restaurant Hunter” (link here), but now they’re expanding their reach on the south shore with their new location in Merrick.
