Besides Zim Zari being a pretty cool place to hit up in Massapequa Park, on Long Island’s South Shore, they have a built in incentive to visit on Sunday; kids eat for free with a purchase of an adult meal.
Today marks St. Patrick’s Day and what better way to ring that in than to focus on one of the island’s best watering holes that also serves great food; Corry’s Ale House, located in Wantagh.
Sure, it may be consistently below freezing now and for the past few months, but where others see a reason to stay home and sit in front of the fire, we see an opportunity to get out and try new and exciting yogurt shops. Who else in their right minds would want freezing desserts on a freezing day? We may be in a minority, but we’ll enjoy every chance that we can get. YOLO Yogurt in Roslyn is slower than normal due to the weather conditions, so this is your time to pounce. In the summer months we often have to wait on long lines to pay while our yogurt melts, but this time of year, that is not an issue.
Back in the day (mid-90’s) Caruso’s Pizza was the place to go for those kids growing up in the Plainview area. A lot has changed since that time. Waldbaums, the anchor store back then has transitioned to Fairway Market and Caruso’s is now known as Umberto’s Pizza of Plainview. Upon a recent visit we saw that although the name may have changed, the great pizza hasn’t.
Krisch’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor in Massapequa is not only a wildly popular restaurant on Long Island, but it is one that is steeped in history; one of the last remaining old-school ice cream shops around.
For those of us who have been patiently waiting for the new Buffalo Wild Wings in Westbury to open, our wait is coming to a close. Occupying the space that previously held Mirage Nightclub and then most recently GLO, this new Buffalo Wild Wings is going to be massive and probably won’t disappoint, when they open on March 16th.
Among the many restaurants that are in Rockville Centre sits its newest shining star, Kashi Japanese. A sister-restaurant to their other busy location on the north shore’s equivalent to Rockville Centre, Huntington Village (both with busy village atmospheres), Kashi will make you feel blue, but not in the way that you might be thinking.
We’re all about the family friendly activities on Long Island and in this time of year, we can’t think of anything better than apple picking on any of Long Island’s local farms. We took a trip to Lewin Farm in Wading River this past weekend to wander the fields collecting our bounties from the rows and rows of apple trees lining the farm.
Those nights walking down Woodcleft Avenue on Freeport’s Nautical Mile can get you in the mood for something very sweet (especially if you’ve been eating some of that salty seafood all night). We’ve got you covered with Pip’s Ice Cream, located a stone’s throw away from the waterfront views.
