Taco Joe’s on Merrick Road in Massapequa is a great counter-service, kid-friendly Mexican restaurant with the benefit of a Yogurt & Such built-in for those after dinner dessert options (and a small yogurt is included in the kids meal as well.) We’re happy to report that they’re making the move to the north shore as well with their now under-construction shop on Old Country Rd.
Ease of access to the Meadowbrook Parkway, Eisenhower Park and the Roosevelt Field Mall area will most likely be great selling points for the new rental community, Avalon Garden City, being built on Stewart Avenue. Having razed the site and starting construction now, the result will be a variety of one, two and three-bedroom apartments as well as townhouse units.
Mitch SuDock was always lauded as the owner-chef of Bistro M in Glen Head; a little restaurant with a big following. It’s fitting that he’s launching a new restaurant in Albertson with his name in the title (We can’t leave out dining room manager Toni Contino as well). We hear that they’re shopping for chandeliers now, so the wait shouldn’t be too long.
Across the country, Seasons 52 restaurants have been operating with a focus on great seasonal portions that all sit below 475 calories. This feature alone is setting them apart from the pack as this country’s chain restaurants are inundating menus with 1,000+ calorie “healthy options”.
As we learned from Long Island Business News today, Red Mango, the increasingly visible frozen yogurt stores popping up everywhere from NYC to Long Island is opening another store in Manhasset on Plandome Rd. (not far form the train station). The franchisee who will be opening this new outpost also has another located in the Wheatley Plaza shopping center in Greenvale.
*Update: Red Robin is open as of May 9th.
Construction has been under way for quite some time at the Country Glen Center (next to Chipotle and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza) and it’s only now that we have an idea of what is coming to this ever-increasing gastronomic hotspot.
