When Bottomz Up Bar & Grill abruptly closed their location in Carle Place (they have another location that is still open in Manhattan), we didn’t know what would happen with that large space. Now we know as the Manning’s Pub & Grill sign is up on the exterior facade and the Now Hiring sign adorns the windows. Poking our heads into the restaurant, we saw that crews were hard at work on the interior and the signage is up inside as well.
Vincent’s Clam Bar in Carle Place is a treat for those who love festive atmospheres, homemade food, large portions and friendly staff. We’ve been coming here for years and with good reason; it’s affordable, fun and yummy.
If you’ve lived on Long Island for long enough or you have visited Boca Raton, Florida, then there’s a strong possibility that you have stopped into a Ben’s Kosher Deli for a quick bite. Ben’s has been a fixture within our community for quite some time. In the immediate area, there’s a location in Woodbury as well as this location that we visited here in Carle Place. It’s a haven for matzo ball soup, brisket, knish’s and of course, hot dogs.
Inside the Holiday Inn on Old Country Road, construction has been going on for roughly 6 months on transforming their old restaurant into the newer restaurant/bar The Sporting News Grill.
Edit: Now Open for Business
Where the pet store Safari Stan’s once sat on Old Country Road, a new hotspot is getting ready to open. Now under construction and hiring waitresses and bartenders, Bottomz Up will likely be aligning themselves with the other nearby restaurants and bars that rely heavily on scantily clad servers (CANZaciti Roadhosue and Hooters, namely). Where they hope to step in front of their competition is the quality of their cuisine.
PASSIONE is new to the Carle Place dining scene. It sits in the same shopping center as the now defunct 6th Avenue Electronics store and is just a few doors down from one of the area’s favorite restaurants, LL Dent. During the construction period they had big signs up that they were coming soon, but we didn’t know what to expect at all. We ventured inside recently to scope out the space and we were genuinely surprised at what was lying inside.
Of all the restaurants on Long Island, Shiro of Japan may be the one that we visit the most. Located in the ground floor of the office building that East of NYC is based out of, we’re visiting them on an average of once per week for lunch and we sometimes stop in for dinner, as well.
Here’s an opening that we’re glad to see; Stew Leonard’s Wine and Spirits in Carle Place. Taking over the space that used to house an athletics store, there’s plenty of room to shop and the vast space is filled with choices. The second of their locations on Long Island (Farmingdale is the other), Stew Leonard’s will provide an affordable and painless shopping experience for those adult libations that you’ve been craving. Wines are sorted by type and by region as well and clearly marked so you can’t get lost.
*Update: Red Robin is open as of May 9th.
Construction has been under way for quite some time at the Country Glen Center (next to Chipotle and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza) and it’s only now that we have an idea of what is coming to this ever-increasing gastronomic hotspot.
