Bakeries that serve oversized cupcakes may be the biggest rage these days on the island. It’s not uncommon for a new bakery to set up shop in any of the villages, Rockville Centre included. Get Baked is a relative newcomer to the area and their front counter is littered with unique flavors and combinations to fulfill those sweet-tooth needs.
The last time we ran into the Cupcake Contessas was way back in January of 2009. At that time they were located in Huntington and were nice enough to send us over some samples to enjoy. Now with their own shop in Willison Park, we were in the area for a recent television shoot and by stroke of luck, their new shop was located just next door.
Straight from the mind of Kim Clarry, the bakery manager in Fairway’s Plainview location are three great recipes for Ciabatta. These are a perfect summer treat that will reward you past the wonderful baking process. Follow on through to see what we’re cooking up!
Crumbs is a wonderful little bakery (ok, maybe not so little) that has its origins in that island west of Long Island, Manhattan. Expanding its brand over the past few years, they made their move to Long Island and parts east about three years ago (Huntington and Woodbury came first) and the cupcakes are not only delicious, but they are rather expensive (for Long Island’s standards). We stopped by a little while ago to bother the staff and to snap some shots of their shop and their cupcakes (they have coffee, too!) To whet your appetite, jump on through.
