Umberto’s Pizzeria in Plainview
Back in the day (mid-90’s) Caruso’s Pizza was the place to go for those kids growing up in the Plainview area. A lot has changed since that time. Waldbaums, the anchor store back then has transitioned to Fairway Market and Caruso’s is now known as Umberto’s Pizza of Plainview. Upon a recent visit we saw that although the name may have changed, the great pizza hasn’t.
Counter service for take-out orders and a dining room to sit down and have waitress service are both available. A large part of their business comes from take out and delivery so the main dining area is typically not too crowded. In terms of pizza, all of our favorites were there; Grandma Pies, Sicilian (we spied Bruschetta and Veggie), Chicken Rolls and your standard round pies.
Umberto’s has a great name on Long Island. Since 1965, they have operated restaurants and pizzerias throughout the area. Besides this Plainview location, they also have spots in Bellmore, New Hyde Park, Wantagh and Garden City. We are happy to see that they are still going strong for the residents in the Manetto Hill area of Plainview and hope that they do so for many years to come.
