We may have just stumbled upon Long Island’s best kept brunch secret: thyme in Roslyn. Offered on Saturdays and Sundays beginning at 11:30am, this $15 $18 price fixed brunch will hit the spot as you bring in and say goodbye to the weekend. We recently had a chance to sit down and enjoy thyme and its waterfront views and hope by the end of this writeup that you’ll be out the door and on your way to the North Shore.
thyme has been in the restaurant game for roughly four years now. Located on Tower Place just across from the clock-tower, there is a great history to the local area. Walking up Old Northern Blvd. on the way to the restaurant, you can check out all of the various shops that are open. The building also has a birds-eye view of Roslyn Pond, which can be easily viewed from either the outside dining area on the back porch or through the huge window in the dining room. Since the weather was relatively hot and humid, we chose to sit inside and enjoy the cool air conditioning.
The brunch menu, which includes your choice of a drink (mimosa, bellini, juices, etc.) allows you to either go the standard breakfast route or lunch. We split the task up as my wife ordered a healthy egg white omelette and I indulged in the jumbo lump crab cake sandwich, packed with tomato, avocado and arugula while served with english fries. The crab cake was excellent, perfect texture, seasoned well and the fries were fantastic. A great crispy and crunchy accompaniment to the softer crab cake.
Brunch wouldn’t be a complete meal without a bit of dessert thrown in, so we were able to sample three different desserts. All made in-house, you can tell that these weren’t thawed out then served. We sampled the key lime tart, bread pudding and chocolate lava cake served with ice cream. We promised ourselves only a bite of each, but before we knew it, all we saw were plates.
In addition to brunch, thyme has a healthy following for their dinner menus. Live music is played in the bar on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights while the restaurant is hopping. They also cater as well with the restaurant available for private parties. There is an upstairs level that was in use while we were there.
This was a great brunch that I’ll be sure to frequent again. It was the perfect mix of quality and price, especially in today’s economy. I’m sure they won’t mind that we let the island’s best keep secret out of the bag.

Thanks Angelo, this article was written back in 2009, so prices are subject to change. We change them on our site when we’re notified of these items but can’t keep track of every post going back a few years on our own. Thanks for letting us know.
