Skinny Pizza in Roslyn Heights

Skinny Pizza in Roslyn Heights

How many times have we gorged ourselves on a full pie of thin-crust pizza only to be left with a feeling of dread, contempt for our bodies and only a clean plate staring back at us? Well, here at East of NYC we’ve lost count, but we’ve also found the ultimate solution to this problem. Skinny Pizza, in Roslyn.

Can a pizza be “skinny” in both size and nutritional value? Those are some of the answers that we were seeking when visting Skinny Pizza in Roslyn Heights not too long ago. What we found inside was not only tasty, but also pretty unique to the local area.

Organic ingredients, no antibiotics or hormones, low-fat options and all natural fixin’s amount to a pretty delectable lunch or dinner option. The restaurant is the first of its kind on the island and since opening up in Roslyn recently, they’ll be catering to the masses with a new location to open up in Roosevelt Field Mall in 2012.

The SKINNY ARUGULA, one of our favorites, has a base of whole wheat crust and is topped with heaps of organic arugula, scallions, organic tomatoes, garlic, part-skim mozzarella and balsamic vinaigrette. It’s literally like you’re out in the wild foraging through some of the tastiest parts of the wilderness. And organically.

If you’re feeling a little more adventurous and are willing to throw on a few more calories, you can do as we did and try their SKINNY HICKORY, covered in hormone-free oven roasted chicken with a smoked hickory bbq sauce. Light, tangy and just what the doctor ordered. Other varieties of their pizzas include SKINNY SHROOMS, SKINNY CLASSIC and SKINNY VEGGIE (nutritional value can be found here.)

Another unique feature to the restaurant is their Boylan’s Soda Machine, pumping out Boylan Fountain’s own Ginger Ale, CaneCola, Root Beer, Creme Soda and more, straight from the source. This may be the only Boylan Fountain soda machine on the island. Sweetened with pure cane sugar, it beats out all of those national competitors through intricate taste. It’s a perfect complement to the pizza that you’re downing right beside it.

If you’ve made it this far though this overview you’ll realize that we’re fans of the Skinny Pizza brand and what they’re trying to accomplish. If you’re dieting and you love pizza, you hate to give it up. With some healthier options, now you don’t have to.
