Of all the restaurants on Long Island, Shiro of Japan may be the one that we visit the most. Located in the ground floor of the office building that East of NYC is based out of, we’re visiting them on an average of once per week for lunch and we sometimes stop in for dinner, as well.

With Shiro, which has been around for 20+ years in the same location, there are options to eat in the hibachi style or to go to the sushi bar in the back and order off the regular menu. Either way, the food is delicious.

The sushi bar is changing their specials daily and at lunch time a large part of their business comes from Japanese employees of local large businesses. We’ll often order entree + sushi lunch combinations and most prices are kept below $12 during the lunchtime hours.

Offering a meal and a show, the hibachi tables are a fun way to eat your meal. The trained chefs will keep you entertained with their flair, steaming volcanoes and flying shrimp. If a private dinner experience is more your speed, request to be seated downstairs at any of the private rooms that can accommodate parties large and small.

If you’re ever wondering where to find us during the week, chances are pretty good that if you stop into Shiro of Japan, you’ll find us. Just make sure to say hi, if you do.
