LIMANI in Roslyn
Once in a while a restaurant so completely satisfies you that you’re left wondering why you haven’t gone there before and experienced all that it had to offer. LIMANI in Roslyn is just that restaurant, but high accolades and an impressive experience come at a cost; and that cost is quite steep.
Maybe it was the row of Bentley’s and Rolls-Royce’s valet parked in the front or the well-to-do crowd assembled (so nicely dressed, by the way) in the dining room and bar areas, but we should have known when walking in that it would be an expensive meal.
The first thing that jumps out at LIMANI is the service. The waitstaff is as attentive, knowledgable and helpful as anywhere out there. The fresh seafood menu may sometimes need an explanation, but they’re there to help at each step of the way.
The interior is clean and modern, as is expected in a high-end Mediterranean restaurant. There are three separate areas of the restaurant to hang out in; the bar / lounge area and two dining rooms. The weather was beautiful on our trip so there were a few diners enjoying outdoor dining on the front of the restaurant.
Each segment of the meal was better than the previous. The Crab Cake appetizer (they split it in half for us to share) and the Grilled Shrimp appetizers were well prepared and the flavors just flowed together. The Tomato Salad (pictured below) was light and perfect for summer; with heirloom tomatoes, feta cheese and light oil. By the time we were on our entrees we were stuffed but we kept plowing through. Whole Branzino, served filleted with the head still on was a big hit at our table while the Seared Tuna was cooked rare, just seared on the outside.
This meal with three appetizers, two entrees and a dessert (plus one drink) ended up at $250, including tip. This may not be a restaurant that you would visit weekly, but for a special occasion we can’t think of a better meal to have on this side of the East River. We’d gladly go back any time that we have an opportunity to, and we look forward to trying a variety of fresh seafood that they have on hand.
