If we were asked what restaurant on Long Island closely resembled any cool restaurant in Brooklyn, we’d point them towards Barrique Kitchen and Wine Bar in the heart of Babylon Village. Rustic, with its bare wood beams on the ceiling, exposed brick and the familiar aged wood all around, Barrique opened in 2009 (by the same owners as the Argyle Grill & Tavern across the street) and has been a favorite spot on the south shore since.

Known for their artisanal cheeses, small pizzas, cured meats and of course, the wine, they’re on to something special. Small plates take center stage and because they do, you can load up on a few dishes by yourself or to share with others and have a large variety of plates to try.

On our recent visit to the restaurant and wine bar, we sampled their cheese plate, clams, short ribs and more. If variety is the spice of life, we’ve just found our new life partner.
