Hama Sushi in Plainview

Hama Sushi in Plainview

Our very first foray into sushi was way back around 1991 when Hama Sushi in Plainview was then known as Yamato. A lot of time has passed but one thing has stayed the same; this spot is continuing to pump out superb sushi and other Japanese cuisine.

Although the indoor pond and the walking bridge over it are no longer inside the restaurant (it has been covered over with regular flooring), much of the interior decor has remained mostly unchanged. Hama is a small storefront located in a larger strip center so there is a constant hum of activity in the restaurant and during peak times parking can sometimes be an issue, even with the larger lot.

On a few occasions we have made our way over to Hama to pop our head in and to see if they’re still chugging along. Happily, they still are and we can keep remembering back to that original California Roll at 13-years old. The same California Roll that catapulted us into a lifelong love of sushi.
