Food News: Long Island Craft Beer Week 2014 Is Canceled
Organizers of the Long Island Craft Beer Week have just announced that this year’s event has officially been canceled. The full statement from LICBW can be found just below and goes into detail on their cancelation this year as well as their plans for 2015.
We have decided to forego Long Island Craft Beer Week 2014. The changing of the guard did not go as smooth as expected, had a few logistical issues, and didn’t leave enough time to produce a LICBW that we could be proud of. In an effort to make LICBW something that everyone would be interested in participating in, we did not want to put on a week that would make people LESS interested next year.
We are already working on LICBW 2015. We have some great ideas, and have connected with the folks that run San Diego Beer Week for some other ideas.
The plan is to make LICBW 2015 an unforgettable week for Long Island Craft Beer and Long Island Craft Beer Fans. I would like to thank some people for their help in brainstorming, and trying to get 2014 up and running. Andy Lynda Calimano of Starfish Junction, the guys at The Tap Room, Scott Pflug and Jennifer Galtieri of Craft Beer Specialists of Long Island, Phil Ebel V of Great South Bay Brewery, Todd Long of Long Island Beer & Malt Enthusiasts, Jaclynn Brandi, Ed Hahne, Pete Cotter and Mark Burford of Blue Point Brewery, Kevin Breslawski of Beer Loves Company, Kevin Bowker of Tapped Enterprises Inc., and Johanna Zehentner of Big Picture Advertising. I look forward to working with you all to make LICBW 2015 and beyond, a great success!!
We’ll hope that for the sake of all of the fans of LICBW throughout the island that they’ll be able to get it together for 2015 and we’ll have lots of brew (and events) to enjoy.
