Featured Long Island Book: Food Lovers’ Guide to Long Island by Peter M. Gianotti
We were pleasantly surprised this weekend when we discovered that East of NYC received a shout-out on page 4 for local Long Island websites in Peter M. Gianotti’s new book, Food Lovers’ Guide to Long Island. Peter Gianotti is the restaurant critic at Newsday and has published a few books focusing on the Long Island region.
From the book’s description on Barnes & Noble:
The ultimate guides to the food scene in their respective states or regions, these books provide the inside scoop on the best places to find, enjoy, and celebrate local culinary offerings. Engagingly written by local authorities, they are a one-stop for residents and visitors alike to find producers and purveyors of tasty local specialties, as well as a rich array of other, indispensable food-related information including:
• Food festivals and culinary events
• Farmers markets and farm stands
• Specialty food shops
• Places to pick your own produce
• One-of-a-kind restaurants and landmark eateries
• Recipes using local ingredients and traditions
• The best wineries and brewpubs
While we’re always happy to share food news and interesting restaurants on East of NYC, we’re just as happy to see Mr. Gianotti putting the great restaurants and markets of Long Island down in print form.
