Cuban Crocodile in Long Beach

Cuban Crocodile in Long Beach

We really felt like we had landed in South Beach when we stepped into the Cuban Crocodile in Long Beach recently. One of the only Cuban restaurants on Long Island, the drinks are just as important (if not more important) as the food that they’re serving. It’s a hip spot that gets pretty crowded and the energy and the vibe are exactly what we were looking for.

Open since February 2012, in the space that formerly occupied Ay Carumba, Cuban Crocodile is serving up authentic Cuban cuisine. We dabbled in a few of Marivi’s Mojitos, flavored with either Pineapple, Guava, Mango or Strawberry (the flavor is in the rum, not an added juice, so the Mojito always stays clear) and enjoyed a few appetizers at the bar. We had planned on staying for longer and ordering an entire meal, but between the few drinks that we had and the appetizers that we shared, we were stuffed (cancel that Medianoche, please).

The decor stays true to the feeling of Cuba; ceiling lights pull double duty as circulating ceiling fans, the woods are dark and even the check is served in a Cuban cigar box. At the very least, it transports you away from Long Island for a night.
