Behind The Scenes: Inatome in Valley Stream Reopening

When Inatome suffered a fire on October 31, 2010, the entire structure was affected and we weren’t quite sure if they would open their doors again to the general public. That answer came to us a few days ago when we learned that after an exhaustive 15 months of construction and upgrades, Inatome is back, and better than ever.

We took an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the restaurant just as they were putting the finishing touches on their completely remodeled modern interior. If you visited the hibachi restaurant prior to the fire, it was dated and was a “classic”, to say the least. The cuisine was excellent but the decor could have used an updating.

The new restaurant features three areas; there’s the sushi bar and the regular bar where drinks will be served, with a lounge area just off to the side of the bar. The hibachi tables are still there as well, featuring a hoodless vent system (first of its kind in Nassau) that leave the tables free from those overhead vents and should leave the diners free of that hibachi smell when they return home. Instead of venting from above you, the table is pushing air from one side over the cooking surface and dragging it away from the other side, so only the direct table top is exposed to the fumes.

We’re excited for them to open their doors to the general public in the immediate future. We’re not sure of a hard date at this time, but we’ll update our readers once we have the exact date pegged The hard opening, according to their website is on Friday night, March 15th for dinner service. Until then, check out our gallery below and take a look around. We think you’ll like what you see.
