Catch The Wave in Plainview

Catch The Wave in Plainview

What used to be half of the site of a long-standing convenience store (the other half is now the expanded Town Bagel) is now revamped and upgraded to suit this decade’s biggest fad; the self-serve frozen yogurt shop. Catch The Wave opened up in 2011; an independent shop riding the surf in an ocean filled with corporate juggernauts.

With TCBY and 16 Handles all within a two-minute drive, Catch The Wave has its work cut out for it. True to the genre of self-serve, you load up what flavors you want in your cup, add toppings and then pay for your concoction based on the weight of the cup. Fresh fruits, candy and sugary toppings and sauces all await. They have a variety of flavors of yogurt and custard, running the gamut from full-fat (premium) and non-fat options.

We’ve been to Catch The Wave in both the dead of winter and most recently a week ago on one of the hottest days of the year and both times they were relatively crowded. So, maybe being an independent operator isn’t so bad, after all.

Pro-tip: Before putting your yogurt in your cup, add a thin layer of crunchy toppings to the bottom of the bare cup. You’ll have a nice crunchy surprise waiting for you at the bottom!
