The North Fork has a lot of things. It has Greenport, Riverhead and Southold. Each of those locations have an abundant supply of restaurants and shops for visitors and residents to bask in. What they don’t have however is a selection of worthy coffee roasters to enjoy some freshly roasted beans any day of the weak. North Fork Roasting Co. in Southold will be opening soon to change that very fact.

Cook’s Scratch Kitchen & Bakery, a very popular and well received restaurant located in Northport just announced that they will be opening up a new bakery / cafe be serving all of their fresh-baked pastries along with an abridged lunch menu to assist customers of the shop (and visitors) with their in-store refueling.
Occupying the space that was formerly the Golden Pear Cafe in Stony Brook, Crazy Beans is now open for business. The original location, in Miller Place, is still running strong and they’ve been pumping up the new Stony Brook location on Facebook and through social media outreach. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner this is a great day for Stony Brook and for the Long Island early morning food scene. Make sure to stop in and try their coffee, which customers continually rave about.
La Gioconda, an italian restaurant located just across from the Great Neck Plaza LIRR station has closed it doors in 2014 and it comes as quite a surprise (to us). A quaint, dimly lit and intimate restaurant and catering operation, we were surprised to hear the news of their demise as we have dined there numerous times over the past 7 or so years and each time that we had visited the restaurant was pretty busy.
You may not know Jack’s Shack in Glen Head but you probably know its owner. Willie Degel, host of the wildly popular Food Network show Restaurant Stakeout and who is also the owner of Uncle Jack’s Steakhouse is calling the shots at this organic fast casual spot and not surprisingly, it’s pretty good.
Seasons 52 has always been known for their mini desserts, served up in a shot glass and baked to perfection. They’re announcing today a series of new mini indulgence flavors that are both seasonal and permanent to their menu.

When Bottomz Up Bar & Grill abruptly closed their location in Carle Place (they have another location that is still open in Manhattan), we didn’t know what would happen with that large space. Now we know as the Manning’s Pub & Grill sign is up on the exterior facade and the Now Hiring sign adorns the windows. Poking our heads into the restaurant, we saw that crews were hard at work on the interior and the signage is up inside as well.
When we first met Chef Noah Schwartz he was at the helm of Seafood Barge in Southold way back in 2007(ish). Not too long after our first meeting at that location, they closed up shop and Noah decided to head out on his own. A few miles away in Greenport, the old Frisky Oyster bar location was opening up, so due to the collision of events, Noah decided to open up Noah’s in the heart of Greenport, on Front Street.
