Blue Point Brewery Poised To Tap World's Largest Cask

Blue Point Brewery, one of Long Island’s better known and most popular microbrewers is set to tap the world’s largest cask as it hosts the 7th Annual Blue Point Cask Ale Festival on Saturday, April 9th, 2011 from 2pm – 6pm at their headquarters in Patchogue. For those unfamiliar with Cask Ale, it’s a reference to unfiltered and unpasteurized beer that is conditioned and served directly from a cask.

Upcoming Event: Hamptons Restaurant Week, March 21st – March 28th

 It came around pretty quick, but it's that time of the year again for Hamptons Restaurant Week, put together by PR powerhouse Wordhampton Public Relations. From Sunday, March 21st – Sunday, March 28th, visitors to participating restaurants can enjoy two different prix fixed meals ($19.95 and/or $24.95).  They've upped the ante this year by also allowing visitors discounts on wine, discounts on participating tastings at select vineyards and reduced accommodations at participating hotels.

If you've ever dined during Restaurant Week, you already know that you have to make reservations in advance as these events and dining times fill up pretty quickly.  If you've never dined during Restaurant Week, now's your chance to; especially if you've been dying to try one of the many restaurants on the list.

Haiti Earthquake Benefit at Thyme in Roslyn on January 28

Thyme Restaurant & Cafe in Roslyn will be donating 100% of their proceeds gained (they're donating all of the food and drinks) from the newly announced cocktail party to benefit Oxfarm America's efforts in Haiti.  The cocktail party is to be held on January 28th from 5-9pm. Along with the great Roslyn Pond views, you'll be treated to pass arounds and live music.  There's a $10 suggested donation to gain entry into the party, so bring as many people as you can to help a great cause.  To RSVP you can email the organizers directly by January 21st.

Winterfest Classic Beer Dinner at The Library Cafe in Farmingdale

If you're a beer-loving Long Islander, you'll love this event that we're letting you all know about.  The Library Cafe in Farmingdale is hosting a Winterfest Classic Beer Dinner on Wednesday, December 2nd at 7pm.  A four-course dinner, not only will you be sampling some great brews and food, you'll also get to listen to and meet Josh Havey, of Samuel Adams.

The menus will consist of:

1) Pretzel, Cinnamon Sugar paired with Old Fezziwig Ale

2) Chopped salad infused with Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic dressing, paired with Coastal Wheat

3) Skirt Steak marinated in Boston Lager OR Chicken breast marinated in Cranberry Lambic dressing paired with Winter Lager

4) Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream, paired with Holiday Porter Float

International Great Beer Expo at The Nassau Coliseum

Today is the day where over 100 beers are brought together from all over the world (and some that are local too!) to reach out to the masses that attend.  If you're anywhere near the Nassau Coliseum and are at or above the legal drinking age, head on over to the International Great Beer Expo for either of their two sessions (12:30-4pm and 5:30-9pm).  Oh yeah, bring a designated driver, you'll need one.
