We first learned about Ms. Michelle’s Urban Gourmet while at Grey Horse Tavern in Bayport. The bakery was supplying the Tavern with one of their best desserts. Located a two-minute drive away from that spot, we decided it would be a good idea to stop in and take a quick tour.

Needing to visit a gluten free bakery used to mean that there were few stores and even fewer delicious options out there in the wild. Ms. Michelle’s Urban Gourmet is taking that old, tasteless formula is taking that and throwing it to the side. The menu options change with the availability of ingredients and there are always delicious items in the case as well as being thought out ahead for the next season.

The location of the bakery is what we would imagine a bakery to look like out in Bayport. A house with a front porch, it is like visiting a friendly neighbor to get a piece of pie. It is comforting and makes you feel at home even before you walk through the door. The expectation at Ms. Michelle’s is that you are going to get friendly service with a smile to go along with that piece of brownie, pie or cake. They’ve hit the mark on every aspect of being a revered local establishment and we look forward to tasting many more items throughout the years.
