Marshall’s Ice Cream Bar in Massapequa

Marshall’s Ice Cream Bar in Massapequa

Those of us on the south shore really do love our ice cream and ices. Maybe it’s related to the beach and the way that the summer brings out the frozen dessert lover in us. Either way, we’d be hard-pressed to find a little ice cream bar with such a rich history.

We popped into Marshalls on a recent day just as the summer season was starting to go into full swing. At night and during the weekends, the lines can be somewhat long but what’s good is usually worth waiting for. There’s a few generations of family at this roadside dessert spot; with the grandkids manning the registers in the building that the grandparents built way back in 1952. It’s about 10 years older than its nearest neighbors, All American Hamburger and just as popular.

You can get soft-serve or hard ice cream and they do have a non-fat version, as can be seen in the swirl cup above. We’re hearing that the pistachio soft-serve is among the favorites and there’s certainly enough variety (at a cheap price) to choose from. All you need is a shirt, shoes and young heart to enjoy.
