With summer season in the Hamptons out in full swing now, Montauk is not only “The End”, but it is quickly becoming a culinary destination all of its own. Inlet Seafood Restaurant is just one of many hot spots out on the east end, and for us, it’s one of the best that we have yet encountered.

Open since 2006, and owned by six commercial fisherman who give the restaurant their best hauls, the seafood here is outrageously fresh and of high quality. The view; water out of every window, is breathtaking at sunset so enjoying a cocktail or an entire meal on either of the two outdoor decks is quite the show.

Although they have a full seafood menu, we ordered straight off of the sushi menu. Not a typical Japanese restaurant, we weren’t sure that they could pull off the experience, but freshness talks and for the table of four, this was one of the best sushi meals that we have had on Long Island. Everything just had that fresh feeling to it; nothing was stale and the flavors popped.

Because of its location and the quality of the fish, Inlet Seafood is a little pricier than your normal seafood restaurant, although not by much. In the summer, in Montauk, we’re supposed to enjoy those amazing views and the “scene” that the summertime-locals can provide. Here, you’re treated to both, plus an amazing meal.

Be prepared to wait, we were told 90 minutes for dinner, but they managed to slip us through to a bar side table for 4 within 20 minutes. Killing time by the bar area with a few cocktails was an enjoyable way to wait.
